Priest Valley Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation is a private physiotherapy practice in Vernon, BC. We offer comprehensive assessment and treatment of issues related to the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, with an active/exercise focussed approach supplemented by our commitment to hands on treatment.
We treat a wide range of conditions and provide complex rehabilitation programs to return you to optimal function. This includes but is not limited to sports related injuries, neck and back pain, hand and upper extremity trauma and degenerative issues, joint and muscular issues. We are also a contracted provider treating Worksafe BC claims, as well as ICBC and other third party funders.
We established Priest Valley Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (Previously named ‘Priest Valley Manual Therapy Centre’) in 2005 with the purchase of an existing clinic (Avis Janz and Assoc) with roots in our community for over 20 years. Starting out as a small 3 clinician clinic, Priest Valley Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation has gone on to become one of the pre-eminent clinics in the Okanagan Valley. We chose the name ‘Priest Valley’ to recognize the historical importance of the city of Vernon as the central hub in what was previously known as ‘Priests Valley’ (the Okanagan Valley) in the early days of settling in the valley.
The professional staff at Priest Valley Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation has years of quality experience and postgraduate training beyond the basic physiotherapy education. The staff has certifications in hand therapy, manual therapy / joint manipulation, acupuncture, vestibular rehabilitation, and exercise prescription.
We use a comprehensive approach using manual ‘ hands-on’ physiotherapy, specific therapeutic exercise (land and water based), acupuncture/IMS, custom splinting and bracing, and kinesiology. We use this approach because there is a significant amount of research/ supporting its use in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders, injuries and surgeries.
While we provide comprehensive assessment and treatment at the clinic we believe that we are part of your healthcare team and as such will communicate, with your consent, with your physician, surgeon or coach\trainer.
In Vernon, the incidence of degenerative joints and related issues is significant. Despite the fact that the population is generally ageing it is also very active therefore an understanding of the specific issues related to this client group is crucial. Our physiotherapists and kinesiologists have extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment, splinting, and management of degenerative conditions.
